How to float
Before You Float
If this is your first time floating or first time with us, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. This will allow us time to give you a tour of our facility, answer any questions, and go over the flotation process with you.
Grab any refreshments you may want, use the restroom, and then thoroughly rinse off any excess oils from your body (Ending with cold / room-temp. water…), before finally laying back in your pod / pool.
During Your Session
We recommend the use of earplugs, that we will provide for you, to keep the Epsom salts out of your ear canals. We recommend putting the ear plugs in prior to your first rinse-off shower.
Your session is given an extra 5 minutes prior to your float, so you can shower and get situated. Everyone is required to shower before and after floating.
Be thorough. Use the body wash and shampoo. Be sure to wash off any lotions or deodorant. Conditioner can only be used AFTER your float as the oils in the conditioner can damage the water. Everyone must wash their hair. Rinse thoroughly to ensure that no bath products get inside the tank.
After your shower you can turn off the light and enter the pod or float suite. After closing the pod lid, you will gently lay back to find yourself extremely buoyant. Try to avoid getting the water on your face. If it does get on your face be sure to dry it with a cloth or use the spray to rinse the salt out. Salt will burn your eyes so be sure not to touch them with your wet hands. Use the spray bottle provided to rinse your eyes if this does happen.
Some people find that they need a neck pillow to give the neck comfortable support, so we provide you with a Float Halo.
You will hear a soothing voice from the pod giving introductions to let you know your session has begun. You can turn the light off and adjust the music by pushing the buttons inside of the pod or suite. You are in complete control of your environment.
As you lay there, try to relax and clear your mind the best you can. It can be tricky for some folks to relax at first as we have grown comfortable with being uncomfortable. Music can help ease you into relaxing. We suggest trying to think about things that make you happy, think of everything you’re grateful for, give yourself compliments, or focus on your breathing. It typically takes folks, their first time, about 25 to 40 minutes to get where your brain starts producing theta waves. Theta waves is where the different possible benefits come from. This is your experience; we are here to assist in any way possible to ensure you have an awesome float.
After Your Float
A soothing voice will come on along with the light to gently let you know that the time is up and its time for a shower. If that doesn’t wake you up, after two minutes the cleaning jets kick on and should wake you. If in the event that you have not left the room, after about 15-20 minutes from the end of your float, you will receive a knock at the door from a staff member. Please be mindful of the next client after you as to not take a longer shower than needed.
After slowly and steadily getting out of the pod, step right back into the shower to rinse the salt off. Please feel free to use hair conditioner at this point. Your skin and hair will feel very soft and silky after floating.
We have our Renew room available to get dressed, blow dry your hair, and get yourself ready to enter the world again.
You are encouraged to hang around in the relaxation lounge (Serenity Room) to enjoy a hot cup of tea and share thoughts, or just relax after the experience. No pressure though, We know you’re busy.
